Gardening and landscaping, sports fields
Whether for simple garden design, light green roofs or trafficable surfaces on existing buildings – foam glass gravel from MISAPOR is the ideal lightweight construction fill for all building projects. The cavity content in the fill and the closed-cell structure of the individual grains drain perfectly and quickly carry water away to the desired location.
Characteristics
The pressure-resistant and stable fill is suitable for simple modeling or as a foundation material for surfaces subject to traffic. The fill is highly draining (cavity content >30%) and brings water quickly to where it should be. Of course, the cavity content can also be used for temporary water storage!
Trafficked areas
Low bulk density and yet pressure-resistant, perfect drainage and moldable up to 45 degrees. MISAPOR shows the way.
With a bulk density (MISAPOR 10/75 from 120 kg/m3 dry), foam glass gravel ensures a load reduction on roofs, underground garage ceilings, etc.. This means that there are no limits to the design scope and previously unusable areas can be used economically.
Characteristics
- Low and stable weight without water absorption
- Fast water drainage thanks to excellent longitudinal and transverse drainage
- Quick and easy installation
Lightweight fill
Earth and gravel are heavy and often place an unnecessarily heavy load on retaining walls, ramps, concrete slabs or roof structures. MISAPOR is around ten times lighter than gravel and therefore only places a low load on structures. Load-bearing structures can therefore be designed to be slimmer – which saves money. Even during heavy rainfall, the weight of MISAPOR remains constant, as the cellular glass is closed-cell and does not absorb water and, thanks to the fill, it quickly drains the water away again.
Characteristics
- Low and stable weight without water absorption
- Fast water drainage thanks to excellent longitudinal and transverse drainage
- Quick and easy installation
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles
- Fire-resistant according to standard A1
- Non-rotting, inert and durable
- Can be driven on during installation
- Does not roll, backfill with excellent friction angle
- Thanks to MISAPOR, there is no need for a concrete slab to distribute the load on the lightweight shell that can be driven over
- Quick and easy installation
- Transport volume per truck up to 90 m3 loose, saving time and money
- Very high and durable resistance to pressure and deformation
Modeling
MISAPOR can be perfectly leveled, but it doesn’t have to be. Parks with hilly landscapes, creative gardens on roofs, lightweight fills for driveways can also be realized “three-dimensionally” with MISAPOR. The angular MISAPOR blocks with their rough surface do not roll. This enables modeling up to 45 degrees without lateral support.
Characteristics
- Low and stable weight without water absorption
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles
- Rapid water drainage thanks to excellent linear and transverse drainage
- Fire-resistant according to A1 standard
- Indestructible, inert and durable
- Does not roll, backfill with excellent friction angle
- Thanks to MISAPOR, there is no need for a concrete slab to distribute the load on the lightweight shell that can be driven over.
- Quick and easy installation
- Transport by truck of 90m3, large volumes can be assembled per day, which saves time on site.
- Very high resistance to pressure and deformation in the long term
Sports field construction
MISAPOR plays in the premier league – also in sports field construction. Whether on the football pitch, the tennis court or in the ice rink. The pressure-resistant gravel stabilizes the terrain, as its low weight hardly puts any strain on the ground. Above all, however, it is the perfect drainage that makes the difference in sports field construction: After a rain shower, the pitch is dry and playable again much more quickly.
Characteristics
- High seepage capacity, transverse and longitudinal drainage
- Relieves poorly load-bearing ground
- Thermal insulation prevents frost damage
- High compressive strength ensures multifunctional use
Green roofs
With MISAPOR you can turn your roof into a garden. Whether intensively or extensively greened – thanks to the lightness of MISAPOR, there are no more limits to creativity.
Urban gardening can be perfectly realized with MISAPOR as a lightweight fill and drainage layer. Foam glass hardly burdens the load-bearing structure, is easy to shape, does not burn and is absolutely non-toxic. This is also good news for your plants.
Characteristics
- Extremely low weight (10x lighter than gravel)
- Non-combustible (class A1 according to ISO EN13501)
- Stable in weight (MISAPOR does not absorb water)
- Good drainage layer including thermal insulation
- Rodent-resistant and rot-proof
- Quick and easy installation
Pool construction
Perfect insulation, pressure relief and perfect water drainage when backfilling swimming pool walls thanks to MISAPOR.
For swimming pools, steel tubs, tanks or other containers that need to be protected against cooling or frost, foam glass gravel serves as first-class insulation and loosens the drainage around the structure. An additional advantage is the quick and easy installation, so that the summer is not over before your swimming season begins.
Characteristics
- Drainage and insulation of mineral backfills
- Ecological and environmentally friendly (CO 2) 4 to 5 times lower than with a conventional light backfilling system.
- Durable, inert, rot-proof and fire-resistant to A1 standard
- Very light, between 110 and 160 kg/m3
- Stable in weight, the granules do not absorb water.
- High compressive and tensile strength, 0% elongation at 35Kpa
- Simple and very quick installation
- Also ideal for pond insulation
- Limited horizontal and vertical forces
- Allows the proportion of reinforced concrete to be reduced (finer structure)
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles
- Resistant to salts and other aggressive substances
Gabions
Even behind bars, MISAPOR looks attractive and creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. Whether for sound insulation or decorative use – MISAPOR appeals to all the senses and also saves time and money. The low weight enables high delivery volumes and lower grid thicknesses. Installation is quick and easy thanks to the simple handling.
Characteristics
- Good sound insulation thanks to large surface area
- Low dead weight
- Weather resistant
Substrate mixture
MISAPOR is the ideal solution for greening even roof surfaces with low load-bearing capacity.
In principle, the lightweight substrate behaves like a mixture of earth and stone: thanks to its excellent compressive strength, it does not show any long-term subsidence. This means that MISAPOR can be used for planting, walking on and even driving on fillings on structures.
Weight can be successfully saved by partially replacing heavy substrate with lightweight MISAPOR.
Example: For 500 liters of organic soil mixed with 1m3 of MISAPOR, we obtain 1m3 of substrate, which offers a dry value that is approx. 500 to 600 kg/m3 lighter.
MISAPOR not only reduces the weight of the fill, but also ensures better soil aeration. With a pH value of 8-9, MISAPOR is suitable for green areas and has no influence on plant growth.
Characteristics
- Enables ultra-light substrate
- Mineral: No rotting
- Inert
- No settlement
