Load-bearing and insulating
MisaporConcrete is a new material that is both insulating and load-bearing. Unlike conventional concretes, MisaporConcrete is mixed with foamed recycled glass (Misapor), which provides the insulating function.
MisaporConcrete can be used in a monolithic installation, i.e. without the addition of any other insulating materials. However, this does require relatively thick walls. The special advantage of the new MisaporConcrete core insulating system (CI system) is thinner walls, yet with excellent U-values. In both cases, the result is a fair-faced concrete surface, both inside and out. By touching the material it is possible to see how it differs from conventional fair-faced concrete: the porous surface of this insulating concrete feels rougher and softer, as well as considerably warmer, than ‘conventional’ concrete surfaces. Architects prefer MisaporConcrete because of its stability and outstanding resistance to ageing.
